I have found such a perfect mix of art, utility, creativity and community in sewing and quilting and sharing online. I have loved reading hundreds of blogs and starting this one. I'm so happy you have joined me along the way. I want to give back to you a little of the love, support, fabric and goodness that I've received. This giveaway is just for you!

Feel free to let me know if you like Aurifil in neutral or in color and what color family you might like. If I have that color, or neutral,  I'll throw it in. Or I can pick a color or neutral of my choice because I mean, Aurifil in any color is fantastic. I had heard about it online but none of my local stores carried it. Then I won a box and I really do love it. My machine sews beautifully with it, there is no breaking and piecing and quilting are speedy and work just as they should. I've no association with Aurifil I just really like the thread and bought these spools with my own hard earned cash. My local stores are starting to carry it so I picked some up when they were 10 percent off.

2. Lemon Summer Kitchen

Some pieces are fat quarters, some larger, some a bit smaller. All are brand spankin' new and looking for a loving home. I will stuff as much fabric as I can in an envelope as long as the shipping remains at or less than 10 dollars to domestic U.S. and at or less than 15 dollars for overseas. What do you need to do to win? You just need to be a follower and tell me what kind of fabric you like in general and specifically which stack, or stacks, you like and I'll send bundles along to two lucky winners.

Monday Sunday Stash

I got some Spoonflower for the first time. If you're not familiar with them, it's a site where you can upload your own fabric designs and get them printed! There are hundreds of beautiful designs and you can get them on different kinds of fabric like Kona Cotton and even silk. If you buy from another designer they get a portion of the profits. I really like Holli Zollinger's fabrics and here are some hand-shadow animals that are super cute. How about some extinct animals like rainbow Auroch's? I got the mustardy saber toothed cats.

I love them! They are 2 1/8" big or the perfect scale to make a skirt out of.  A note about the fabric itself... I wanted to show you one side of the selvages. I guess they need to be bigger because of their printing process. They're almost three inches wide, the next biggest selvages I've seen are the Birch fabrics. I was surprised at both. Now you know. The printing looks just like other fabrics you buy. The giraffe one has a "linen" background so it is a bit crosshatched. 

The squid is from Heather Ross's Spoonflower page, the giraffe and skandi rabbits/plaid deer are from Holli Zollinger. It is a bit difficult to figure out scale in real life. The giraffe and sabertooth ones were what I though but the squid and rabbits were about 3x's as big as I though they'd be. It's not the cheapest fabric around but you can't beat the originality and unique nature of printing from a virtually unknown designer. 

If you see a design you like but it's not exactly what you were looking for I'd encourage you to message the designer. They might say no to any requests or they might be like the designer of the sabertooth cats. I sent a message to him saying that if he ever decided to put his design up for sale I'd like to buy some and he responded quickly that he would change it to for sale. Since he answered me so quickly I figured I might as well ask if he ever considered having the design in other colors, it was originally a rainbow of cats. He asked which color, I said yellow, and soon after that he listed a yellow version! Stellar communication and kindness. I got beautiful fabric and he got a sale. Win and win. 

Tuesday Sunday Stash

I was thinking of the Emerald Quilt Challenge and Tula and obsessing over these A. Henry Zebra's so I got a bit more fabric. Love.

Moths and Tula Go With Everything

I got some happy mail and one of my favorite parts is feeling like I just got a birthday present taking the fabric out, spreading it and enjoying looking at it. When I do this I find all sorts of combinations of lines and colors that I may not have thought of. It's so fun how different designers and manufacturer's lines and colors make happiness together.

Bits, Pieces and Happy Mail

For the great things, I won the Honey Be Good giveaway. They are a store that specializes in organic fabrics. I was so pleasantly surprised with the price of the fabrics! The organics can sometimes be so much more expensive that I find it prohibitive to buy any. I got a $30 certificate and got to select what I wanted to receive. It was hard narrowing it down but I really love what I got. There's a selection of Kaufman organic solids and a 1/2 yard of Geocentric Canvas in navy Trident.

I prewashed them and took some for a spin for a Christmas present. The pure organic by Kaufman held up so beautifully, the color is saturated and it's great to sew with. Before I wash canvas I always Fray Check the edges as it (and most canvas) can ravel badly. It also held up well but I haven't decided what to make with it yet, any ideas? If you're thinking of getting organics I would highly recommend their shop.

I really like the texture's that happened while sewing strips up on my bee practice block. I think it'd be fun to find a way to make a whole quilt out of seamed texture.

There's been radio silence around here because Things have been difficult. It's hard to know how and what to post when life is present in a big way. There's hardly been a moment to myself. I've sewn only a bit. I have been sketching since it's portable and comforting. This is the doodled inside of a card. The front says "Thank You for existing in such close proximity with me" with hand printed starry night sky. Do you know those (*warning* geekery) scenes in Harry Potter where they take their wands and draw the wisps of thoughts out of their brains? That's what sketching is like for me. A lovely small outlet to let my brain go, creativity work and keep my fingers busy. I can sketch with an almost stream of consciousness and let the working part figure out troubles.

So Thank you all as well for existing in such close albeit digital proximity to me :)

Paper Piece and Happy Mail

How cute is this package? It's from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics on Etsy. I asked about changing a bundle they had and they responded super fast and they said yes. I was so pleased with them and the service and shipping. I've had varied experiences with buying fabric and am thinking maybe I'll do reviews on stores. I'd totally recommend Fresh Squeezed Fabrics,  top notch. Not sure how much I should say about the not great experiences yet though.

I am trying my hand at paper piecing for the first time. I couldn't leave well enough alone and added pieces to the design. I'm making this for a friend and she likes dark gem colors like forest green-no judgement, only love. Hahaha, I heard Kristin Chenoweth say that and I've adopted it. When I get the whole block done I'll let you know more. Bigger cuts of fabric are definitely a first timers friend. It does create a bunch of scraps, the blue one on top is a little bigger than an inch wide.

Heather Ross OOP (out of print)

I bought a tiny bundle of out of print Heather Ross fabrics. There is a Farmdale Alexander Henry bit in there as well. It's a mixed envelope of quilting cottons and sateen. Probably from cut up clothes and pj's. They were only sold as a set and I won't be using all of them. I was thinking of giving some away during The Great Sew Mama Sew Giveaway around Christmas time. I've won a couple things and it's probably time to return the favor. Do you have a better idea on what to do with them (sans fishes)?

Just look at all these lovely things! I was lucky to win a few things in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day/Week. There is such generosity in people and I love it. This package especially made my day because up to that point there was going to be great sadness in the land. I also realized I didn't tell you who it was yet, it's the amazing Annissa Ljanta of the Grow Mama Blog. You should check out her blog, there's a wonderful sense of her inner life and bits of calm thrown in with the creativity. She's also got a shop on the New Zealand Felt site/online place that feels a bit like Etsy.

Here's what happened that day:

I had my project all set up to sew (fabric, tools, setting up on the kitchen table, getting the sewing machine out, getting the right thread and scissors, I-have-no-sewing-space-clutter-getting-of-stuff-out, etc.) pressed the foot pedal on the machine. ..... (read as silence). Nothing. Absolutely nothing happened. My dearly hated, I mean loved?, Singer had decided to respond not at all to my attempts to make it sew. It's passive aggressive and was upset that I'd made it sew the day before. Grrar! The thought of taking down all my things and getting zilch done was so sad.

And then I went to get the mail and found this! I parcel all the way from New Zealand! It was filled with this vintagey barkcloth loveliness and an herbal book. Even the stamps are beautiful. There is a headband that is the perfect size for my head, a tissue-package-cover in mustard (one of my favorite colors) and this great lined glasses case. I don't think she even knew I wear glasses! I put my glasses in the picture so you can see how well they go with everything she gave me. I cannot tell you how that one package balanced out my day. "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things." For that days sadness there was equal parts happiness, hmm no, there was more than equal parts happiness. It was double happiness because it was shared. Thanks so much!
